It has been awhile since I gave the Federal Reserve any attention, seeing that the stock markets here and elsewhere have been undergoing major tests of their supports and the pressure on the financial system keeps getting top billing in headlines everywhere. So, to correct that, I want to focus on the Fed today, especially since Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke has just appeared before Congress in his semi-annual appearance to update legislators on the central bank’s activities.

Bear Market Underway?

The Federal Reserve did its thing yesterday and left the world as it found it — no rate change. And while investors did a little buying, it was not a very convincing rally.

Over the last two weeks, I have made a point of reading all the reports I could find on the Internet and in several of the major newspapers that featured a major financial figure talking about where the stock market was going in the next six to seven months, especially as the elections might impact their comments. Now, I am not about to make a political comment or prediction. Politics is not my thing, and predicting the outcome of an election almost always makes one look foolish, eventually.
